James William Hicks, 76, of Winnsboro, TX, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020. He was born on May 21, 1944, in Union County, AR, to parents, Eugene Hicks and Maybelle Bishop Hicks. He was raised in Haynesville, LA, where he attended school. James married Jimmie Ruth Minick in Dallas on April 28, 1963. He and Jimmie have been in the Winnsboro community since 1980. James was a driver for the Sulfur Springs Dodge dealership. He was a member of the First Assembly of God church in Quitman, TX. James enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending to his garden. He has a passion for talking about the Lord and studying his Bible. James loved his children and grandchildren and was known as PawPaw, Pops and Poppy to the many people that loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Maybelle Hicks; three brothers; two sisters.
James is survived by his wife, Jimmie Ruth Hicks of Winnsboro, TX; daughters, Regina Gaye Dyer and husband, James of Quitman, TX, Tina Louise Coston and husband, Willie of Winnsboro, TX, and Tammy Renae Blair and husband, Boyd of Winnsboro, TX; sisters, Annette Williams and Camilla McClain; grandchildren, Brandon Hicks, Jared Turner and wife, Tammy, Clayton Dyer, Nicki Dyer, Cody Davis, Boyd Allen and wife, Linda, Scotty Dyer and wife, Melissa, and Brandon Dyer; great grandchildren, Rachel, Katelyn, Warren, Hunter, Jax, Gavin, Kendra, Josh, Colton, Garrett, McKenna, Jayden and Eliza.
