James was born on March 22, 1942, in Deep River, Iowa, to Therald James Henry and Wilma Doris Lane Henry. He grew up with a strong sense of duty and commitment, values that would guide him throughout his life. In August 1961, shortly after marrying his first wife, Ruth Elizabeth Duncan, James enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he honorably served his country for eight years.
During his time in the Air Force, James worked as a jet engine mechanic and was stationed at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. His dedication and expertise contributed to the success of the 3rd Air Division, which earned the U.S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. James was also awarded a distinctive service ribbon for his exceptional performance in military operations against the enemy in Southeast Asia from March 1966 to March 1968—a testament to his bravery and commitment to his country.
After Ruth's passing in 1978, James found love again and married Linda Ruth Boyette on February 14, 1979. James transitioned to civilian life with the same work ethic he exhibited in the military. He worked at TX Go Cart in Grand Prairie, followed by positions at A.T. Lary Toyota and W. Shaw Ford. His leadership skills eventually led him to a role as the general manager of a car wash.
James had a passion for the outdoors. He found joy in fishing, boating, and spending time in his yard, where he loved tending to his garden.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Therald and Wilma Henry; his first wife, Ruth Henry; his second wife, Linda Henry; his brothers, Richard, Joe, and Dale Henry; and his sister, Doris Price.
He is survived by his loving children: Bill Henry and wife Laurie, Michael Henry and wife Susan, Kalena Taylor and wife Amy, Farah Gregory and husband William, and Jacob Henry and wife Sophia.
