Memorial services for James Charles “Jim” Freeman, 83, of Wills Point, TX, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at New Release Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial will be held at Haven of Memories in Canton, TX, at a later date.
James Charles “Jim” Freeman was born in Quitaque, TX, on April 24, 1939, to Bob and Wannita Alexander Freeman. Following high school graduation, Jim served in the United States Army in Berlin, Germany. He over saw transportation with driving awards.
Jim met Carolyn Lang at Scott’s Soda Fountain in Wills Point in May of 1960, and they married September 1, 1961. Their son, Robert Charles “Rob’ Freeman was born August 31, 1963. Jim was employed for ten years with Texas Aluminum in the finishing division. The remainder of his employment, he worked in sales and advanced to the sales and insurance manager at Queen City Chevrolet in Wills Point for thirty-two years.
Jim served on the board of the Wills Point Chamber of Commerce and was an ordained Baptist deacon. He taught children and boys Sunday school classes, sang in the choir, and went on many youth mission trips. He played bass guitar and was a member of the “Amazing Grace” trio with Carolyn and Glen and Pat Harris. He loved to travel and visited various Bahamian islands, Hawaii and parts of the United States. Jim also enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
Jim is preceeded in death by his father, Bob Freeman of Wills Point; mother, Wannita Enyert of San Angelo; beloved mother and father-in-law, Leota and Carroll Lang of Wills Point; and brothers, Lynn, Sonny and Buzz Enyert.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Freeman of Wills Point; son, Rob Freeman and wife Traci of Post, TX; granddaughters, Sarah Denney and husband Caleb, Samantha “Sammi Jo” Reyes and husband Reed, and Reagan Mayfield; grandson, Ryan Belongia and wife Taylor, Reece Belongia and wife Allisha; great grandchildren, Hannah Perry, Kyleigh Denney of Terrell, Harper Freeman of Terrell, C.J. Belongia, Lilly Belongia, Jonsey Belongia and Stoney Belongia, all of Post, and Hadley Mayfield, Tres Mayfield and Lizzy Mayfield of Jayton, TX.
