James Craft, 83, of Canton, TX, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in Tyler.
James Arthur Craft was born on June 1, 1942, in Edgewood, TX, to George Washington Craft and Donnie Katherine Surles Craft. He was raised in Edgewood and later grew up in Wilmer Hutchins, where he attended school.
James married Julie Paulette Fetty on November 15, 1968, and together they made their home in Edgewood until her passing on October 10, 1999. He owned and operated Craft Exterior Vinyl Siding for many years. James was of the Baptist faith, and in his free time, he enjoyed mowing and especially loved fishing at Lake Tawakoni.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Julie Craft; sons, James Ray Craft and Jason Lee Craft; brother, Jessie Dock Craft; and sisters, Ela Faye Beasly and Betty Katherine Brooks.
James is survived by his daughter, Tammy Barnes of Canton, TX; son, Michael Craft of Edgewood, TX; brothers, Robert D. Craft of Mesquite, TX, and Sammy R. Craft of Martins Mill, TX; along with four grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point, TX.
