Funeral services for Irby Leroy Farmer, 89, of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Irby passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in Tyler.
Irby Leroy Farmer was born on September 24, 1933, in Grapevine, TX, to parents Archie Leroy Farmer and Cora Bell Wilson Farmer. He was raised in the Weiland Community and graduated from Quinlan Ford High School in 1951. Irby married Dorothy Ann Goleman on May 7, 1953, and they lived in Greenville to make their home. While Irby served his country in the United States Army, he and Dorothy lived in California. They later moved to Garland in 1959, and he worked for Collins Radio and WTC Freight. He and Dorothy moved to Houston where they owned and operated Sepac in the oil industry. Upon retiring Irby and Dorothy settled back in Edgewood and he worked for both Eubank Funeral Home and Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. He enjoyed camping and loved his veggie gardens.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ann Goleman Farmer; parents, Archie and Cora Farmer; four sisters and one brother.
Irby is survived by his son, Lee Farmer and wife, Donna of Edgewood, TX; daughter, Donna Seale of Yantis, TX; grandchildren, Jason and Misty Seale, Josh and Jennifer Seale, Jessica and Johnathan Jackman and Nicholas Farmer; great grandchildren, Bailee and Clay Gurley, Masen and Cade LaPreze, Emilee and Chance Bell, Keaton Seale, Jasmine Jackman, Michael Jackman, Hailee Biggerstaff, Jaclyn Jackman, James Jackman and Emily Garner; great-great grandchildren, Dallas Gurley and Denver Gurley.
