Hilda Cobo Gready

Hilda C. Gready, 94, of Fort Worth, TX, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022.

Hilda was born on April 30, 1928, to Angel Cobo and Brigida Rausseo Cobo in New York City, NY. As a young girl, she lived in Spain and France before returning to New York and attending Saint Gregory the Great Parochial School. After high school, she moved to Venezuela with her family, where she completed secretarial school. Upon returning to the States, she settled in Fort Worth, TX, where she lived for nearly 70 years. In Fort Worth, she met her beloved husband, Frank Gready. Hilda worked as a bilingual secretary before retiring from Alcon Laboratories.

Hilda was a skilled designer and spent her early retirement purchasing, remodeling and reselling homes. She was a member of the Girls Service League and the Petroleum Club. An avid cook with many friendships that lasted a lifetime, she enjoyed entertaining and kept her social calendar full. Hilda liked getting "glamourous and gorgeous" for a party or evening out and was not afraid of bold colors or eye-catching accessories. She regularly traveled, most frequently to Mexico and also to Spain, Costa Rica and Hong Kong. As generous as she was quick-tempered, she loved to laugh and couldn't resist a dirty joke.

Hilda is preceded in death by her parents, Angel and Brigida Cobo; husband, Frank Gready; sister, Josephine Parsons.

She is survived by her daughter, Lizbeth Nowotny; granddaughter, Elisa Brenc Dupree and husband, John; great-grandchildren, Stella Dupree and Ruby Dupree.
