Herman "Jay" Rohus, Jr. Obituary

HERMAN FLOYD ROHUS, JR. “Jay” GRAND SALINE - Herman Floyd Rohus, Jr. “Jay” passed away peacefully with his loving wife, and family by his side on Friday, July 9, 2021. Jay was born November 13, 1944 in Orange, Texas, to Herman Floyd Rohus, Sr. and Gladis Mae Rohus. He graduated from Wills Point High School, Class of 1963. In his early life, Jay worked with his father as a carpenter and later joined to form H.F. Rohus & Son Builders. Jay was a devoted husband to Linda for 37 years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. They opened their home and hearts to 165 foster children over the course of 28 years. Jay had a rewarding career as a fireman at the Garland Fire Department where he passionately served for 27 years. He served several years as a member of the Grand Saline City Council. Jay was also a member of The First Assembly of God Church in Wills Point and later The First Pentecostal Church in Grand Saline where he served as a deacon and song leader for many years.

Jay leaves a legacy of love, integrity and wonderful memories with his family and those who knew him. We are grateful for each and every day we got to see his glowing smile, for the lessons learned and all the jokes he shared. Jay enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, making anything from beans and cornbread, chocolate gravy, chocolate pecan pie and all other things edible. He was spiritually strong, compassionate and had a clever sense of humor. Above all, he loved, cherished and adored his wife and best friend, Linda.
