H. H. Cox, Jr. Obituary

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of H. H. Cox, Jr. On the 19th day of July in the year 2020, he was called to his heavenly home after an incredible 97 years of life. A decorated veteran of the Second World War and father to 7 wonderful children, this resident of Canton, Texas was a friend to many, respected by all, and enemy to none.

 

Graveside services for H. H. Cox, Jr., 97, of Canton, TX, are scheduled for 9:30 AM, Friday, July 24, 2020, at Kyser Cemetery in Kaufman.

H. H. Cox, Jr. was born January 3, 1923, in Kaufman County, TX, to parents, Henry Homer Cox and Elsie Pearl Raymond Cox.  He was raised in the South Bouie Community in Kaufman County where he attended school. H. H. married Hazel Levorn Luttrull on February 1, 1939, and they lived in Kaufman. H. H. worked for Murray Gin in Dallas making molds for twenty-seven years. He later retired from Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Dallas after ten years of service in 1985. She preceded him in death in 1986. He later married Maurine Lonon and they made their home in Canton. Maurine preceded him in death. H. H. was of the Christian faith. He laid a sturdy foundation of Christian morals, ethics and values that continues to guide his progeny generations hence. Whether with a firm hand, encouraging words, sage advice, or his seasoned direction, he has shaped the lives of his lineage. H. H. Cox, Jr. was honest, loyal, forthright, humble and a man of integrity beyond reproach. He will be greatly missed.

 

Patriarch of the Cox Family, he is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Homer and Elsie Pearl Cox; wife, Hazel Levorn Luttrull Cox; wife, Maurine Cox; sons, Robert Dale Cox, Charles Cox, Douglas Crafton Cox and William Paul Cox; sons-in-law, Bill Oldham and Jack Clark; grandson, Daniel H. Cox; great-grandsons, Cody Gage and Korban Christopher Cox.

 

H. H. is survived by his daughters, Lettie Clark of Wills Point, TX and Norma Oldham of Mesa, AZ; son, Homer “Curtis” Cox and wife, Darlene of Mesquite, TX; daughter-in-law, Carol Cox of Mesquite, TX; step-daughter, Norma Jean Thorp and husband, Mike of Kemp, TX and step-son, Charles Cox and wife, Linda of Kaufman, TX; brother, Robert A. (Rowe) Cox; and numerous other relatives and friends.    

 

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
