Dean Wright was born on February 2, 1961, in Houston, TX, to Gerald Dean Wright, Sr. and Anita Jamieson Wright, both of Wills Point, TX. He was raised in Houston and graduated from Westchester High School. From elementary through high school, Dean loved and excelled in tennis, even winning the Houston Open one year. He attended SMU, earning a Business Degree from the Cox School of Business with an emphasis in Real Estate. As well, he studied abroad in Mexico City via SMU and completed a minor in Spanish. While at SMU, he was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma Social Fraternity and continued to be an active alumnae member until recently, due to health restraints. He was proud of being instrumental in helping start a mentoring program between active members and alums. He truly loved his college days at SMU and the lifelong friends he made while there, as well as the food at Bubba’s on Hillcrest…his favorite food in Dallas, breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Dean married Lori Everett in Picayune, MS in 1986; although they later divorced, they remained very close friends. They lived in Dallas where they had two children, Madeline Elizabeth and Austin Everett Wright. Dean was a really fun, loving and supportive dad who loved being an active part of his children’s lives. He loved to attend every event and sports game they had, as well as help coach off and on through the years and assist them on school or scouting fundraiser campaigns. He especially loved taking them on vacations for spring and summer breaks.
Dean began his career in commercial real estate with the Hank Dickerson Company in Dallas, where he completed the Dale Carnegie Courses. He then when went on to start United American Mortgage, as well as invest in rental property in the DFW area. Dean enjoyed serving on the Dallas County Appraisal Review Board for several years.
