Evelyn Parsons Obituary

Evelyn Elizabeth Parsons, 89, of Wills Point, TX, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, in Canton, TX. She was born on February 13, 1935, in Long Branch, NJ, to Spencer J. Hulse and Mary Elizabeth Fredericks Hulse.

Evelyn grew up in Little Silver, NJ, with her five siblings: Spencer Hulse, Robert (Bobby) Hulse, Helen Hulse Mulhern, Frank Hulse, and Harold Hulse. After graduating from Saint James RC High School, she moved to Missouri, spent some years in California, and eventually settled in Texas, where she lived for the past 50 years.

Evelyn began her career as a librarian for an elementary school, where she nurtured young minds and shared her love for reading and writing. She later had a successful career as an inside sales manager for a privately held company, retiring in 1993. It was during this time that she met her soulmate and husband, Gary Parsons. They were married for nearly 30 years until his passing in 2016. Together, they enjoyed traveling, cooking, volunteering, reading, NASCAR, and everything Disney and Christmas.

Evelyn cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. She was known for her creativity, quick wit, animated antics, daring humor, beautiful flower gardens, and generosity. In her retirement, she passionately supported children's reading and scholastics, volunteering at her grandchildren’s schools for many years. She was affectionately known as "Grandma" by all the kids, and her dedication earned her district recognition for her volunteer work.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Carol Cintel and her husband Steve, and Tamara Stryker and her husband Chris; her grandchildren, Ashley, Hayley, Zach, Bryan, and David; her great-grandchildren, Zoey, Julian, Gabriel, Declan, Adler, Luke, and Chandler; her sister, Helen Mulhern; and her brother, Frank Hulse.

The family will hold a special celebration of life in October, during which a tree will be planted in her memory. Details will be shared with friends and family as the date approaches.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Dementia Society of America in Evelyn’s name: Dementia Society of America.
