Dr. Nora C. Daugherty

Funeral services for Dr. Nora C. Daugherty, 85, of Canton, TX, are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Scurry.

Dr. Daugherty passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in Graham, TX.

Nora Crady was born on September 7, 1937, in Kaufman County, TX, to parents, Morris Calton Crady and Bethel Jeanie Presley Crady. She was raised in Kaufman County and graduated from Scurry-Rosser High School. Nora married Clifford “Sonny” Daugherty on May 8, 1956, and they made their home in the Dallas area until 1978, moving to Galveston for Nora’s studies. She obtained her Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch of Galveston. In 1985, they moved to Canton where she practiced medicine and saw patients until retiring in 2001. Nora and Sonny were members of First Baptist Church in Canton. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and loved to shop and go garage sale-ing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Bethel Crady; brother, John Edward Crady.

Nora is survived by her husband, Clifford “Sonny” Daugherty of Canton, TX; sons, Paul Daugherty and wife Patricia of Graham, TX, and Mark Daugherty of Canton, TX; daughters, Tina Wallace of Houston, TX, Grace Simpson and husband Randy of Austin, TX, and Debbie Daugherty of LaPorte, TX; along with fourteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, May 12, 2023, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
