Funeral services have been arranged to honor the life of Dorothy Earline Pierson, who passed away at the age of 91, in Tyler. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at the Ola Cemetery in Kaufman. A visitation period will take place one hour before the service.
Dorothy Earline Rogers Pierson was born on October 3, 1931, in Martins Mill. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Rogers and Roxie Lee Weatherford Rogers. She spent her formative years in Martins Mill, where she received her education. In June 1949, she married James Watley Pierson, and the couple made their home in Fruitvale. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1994.
Throughout her life, Dorothy fulfilled various roles with dedication. She was a devoted homemaker while raising her children and later found employment with the Dallas Independent School District. For seventeen years, she contributed her talents in the graphics department.
Dorothy's faith was a cornerstone of her life, as she was an active member of the Bible Baptist Church in Grand Saline. She had a passion for reading, crafting heartfelt poems, and nurturing her flower garden.
She is survived by her sons: James Pierson, Jeff Pierson, both of Fruitvale and Steve Pierson of Wills Point; her daughters: Susan Bailey of Fruitvale and Donna Davis of Wills Point; her sister, Nora Rogers of Centerville; extended family member, Debra Pierson; grandchildren: Cody Pierson and wife Natalie, Jennifer Packer and husband Heath, Casey Pierson and wife Sarah, Christie Powell and husband Frank, Stephanie Chennault and husband Danny, Heather Pierson, Steven Brian Pierson and wife Renee, Jason Davis, Valerie White and husband Danny, Lacy Olvera, Josh Pierson and wife Megan, Jeremy Pierson, Britt Tucker, and Brittany Blue and husband Kobe; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death not only by her husband but also by her parents, son Mark Pierson, daughter Teresa Pierson, sons-in-law Charlie Davis and Harold Bailey, daughters-in-law Sandra Pierson and Venus Pierson, and nine brothers and sisters.
