Doris Marie Belzle was born on August 5, 1931, in Edgewood, Texas, to parents John Henry Brown and Winnie Rado Gilbert Brown. She was raised in Edgewood and Wills Point and graduated from Edgewood High School. Doris eloped and married Bobby “Bob” Ray Belzle in Oklahoma. She and Bob lived in the Garland and Rowlett communities for 70 years while they owned and operated multiple small businesses including the “little red grocery store”, a well-known landmark in Rowlett for several years. Doris was heavily involved with her children’s school activities and was in the scouting program and was the PTA President. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rowlett. Doris worked as an administrative assistant for Dallas County for many years before retiring. She had a strong work ethic and always provided for her family. After Bob preceded her in death, Doris moved to Wills Point to be near her family. Doris was the glue that held the family together after her husband passed away. She enjoyed making meals for family, hosting birthdays and playing games with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bob Belzle; parents, John and Winnie Brown; and sister, Dorothy Bateman.
Doris is survived by her son, John R. Belzle and wife, Laura and Tracee Belzle Dean and husband, Robert of Wills Point; and granddaughters, Emilianne M. Belzle and Ashlynn G. Belzle.
