Donald passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Donald DeWayne Wilhite was born on January 10, 1965, in Edgewood, TX, to Kenneth Wilhite and Reita Joy King Wilhite. He was raised in Edgewood, where he graduated from high school. After earning his trucking certification, Donald spent many years driving for USA Trucking. He married Diann McGuire on November 18, 2006, in Kaufman, and together they made their home in Fruitvale.
Donald later worked as a park ranger for Texas Parks and Wildlife and, most recently, as an animal control officer for the City of Canton. He was a member of High Land Baptist Church. Donald loved his family deeply—especially his grandbabies—and cherished Diann with all of his heart. He enjoyed making his famous “Poppa waffles,” spending time with those he loved, and collecting eagles. Known for his generosity, Donald would help anyone who needed it.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Reita Wilhite.
Donald is survived by his wife, Diann Wilhite; children, James Wilhite and wife Faith, and Leslie Koonce; father, Kenneth Wilhite; grandchildren, Kyrston Koonce, Kinsey Koonce, Kassie Koonce, Gunner Koonce, Jadyn Wilhite, and Stephen Wilhite; siblings, Eddie Wilhite and wife Geneva, Troy Wilhite, and Debbie McClure and husband Mike; nephews, Chance Wilhite and Dillon Wilhite; nieces, Stormy Haggard and husband Richard, and Jasmine Randa and husband Guy; and great-nieces and nephews, Ivy Haggard, Colt Haggard, Grace Randa, and Waylon Randa.
