A graveside service for David Kent Lawson, Sr., 61, of Wills Point, TX, will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, December 10, 2020, at White Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time starting at 2:00 PM. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
David passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, at his home in Wills Point.
David Kent Lawson, Sr. was born on February 16, 1959, in La Jolla, CA, to parents, Merle Jean Lawson and Mary Josephine Sawyer Lawson. He was raised in Dallas in the University Park area as a young child. David later moved to the Wills Point community in 1971, and graduated from Wills Point High School. He married Deborah Berryhill in 1984, at the Chapel of the Lake Church. David was a huge advocate of Alcoholics Anonymous and helping others after achieving his sobriety January 1, 1992. He worked for the Branton Co. for over 31 years. Even with his recent diagnoses of brain and lung cancer, David remained active and involved with area A.A. groups and spending time with family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Mary Jo Lawson; brother, Larry Elvin Lawson.
David is survived by his children, Nathan Lawson and wife, Tanya of Wills Point, TX, David Lawson, Jr. and wife, Melissa of Forney, TX, and April Dixon and husband, David of Mineola, TX; grandchildren, Kamryn, Payton, Zoey, Abbie, Chaney, Collin, Autum, Christa and Savannah; great grandchildren, Scarlett, Aiden and RJ; as well as many other family members and friends.
