Clara Waddleton Obituary

Funeral services for Clara Beth Waddleton, 95, of Terrell, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Wills Point.

Clara Beth Waddleton was born Clara Beth Starks on March 1, 1924 in Tyler, Texas to the late Hugo & Josephine Starks. She was raised in Tyler, Texas where she met Arnold L. “Ludy” Waddleton, Sr. in 1947.  In 1952 they were married and moved to Cobb-Switch, an area of Van Zandt County to begin their life together. Interestingly, Clara was the oldest of 7 children and raised 7 children of her own. She was a fantastic cook. Well known for her hand made “from scratch” biscuits that no one; sadly, has been able to duplicate. She was an avid seamstress and she loved to fish! Most of all, she was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Elmo Church of God in Christ.

Along with her parents, Clara is preceded in death by her husband Arnold L. “Ludy” Waddleton, Sr., her brothers Willie & Edward Starks, her sisters Ruby Cunningham & Juanita Rasul and her daughters Georgia Woods, Verna Thompson, and LaWanda Howard.

She is survived by her sisters Marie Smith & Ardella Johnson and her children Arnold Waddleton, Jr. and wife Shirley, Charlotte W. Brown, J. Carolyn Blackburn and husband Robert, James Waddleton and wife Debra, numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren, nieces and nephews along with other extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, February 14, 2020, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
