Cheryl "Darlene" Moss Obituary

Cheryl “Darlene” Moss, 80, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away on September 2, 2024, in Mesquite, Texas.

Darlene was born on October 10, 1943, in Waco, Texas, to Joseph Aaron Reed and Stella Cleo Moats Reed. She grew up in Belton, Texas, where she was a diligent student and volleyball player, graduating from Belton High School. Shortly after graduation, Darlene married Ernie Brown; they would go on to welcome sons Scott and Jason. Darlene and her family were active members at Gross Road Baptist Church, where she came to know the Lord and was baptized. She loved her boys and spent many years cheering them on in their many athletic endeavors. While living in Wylie, she was a youth Sunday school teacher and enjoyed living close to her granddaughters.

On April 27, 1996, she married Bobby Moss, and they settled in Mesquite, Texas. They spent 28 years loving each other and their family; in that time they also welcomed six more grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. They also went on many trips with friends and were members of First Baptist Church in Sunnyvale, Texas, for over 28 years. She participated in the ladies ministry, visited the homebound, helped with the church food bank, and enjoyed traveling with friends. In her free time, she loved reading and shopping, both passions she passed on to her granddaughters.

Darlene worked as a nurse for the Baylor Healthcare System for over 40 years, retiring in 2017. She was a dedicated and caring professional who had a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Stella Reed; her brother, Bill Reed; her sister, Joyce Millinder; and her niece, Lori Millinder.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Moss of Mesquite, TX; her sons, Scott Brown and wife Terri of Bullard, TX, and Jason Brown and wife Angie of Boerne, TX; her stepdaughters, Dana Callen and husband Ross of Plano, TX, and Kristy Parrish and husband Stephen of Royse City, TX. She is also survived by her brother, Doug Reed and wife Sonya of Dallas, TX; her sister, Connie Burrow and husband Mike of Gatesville, TX; her grandchildren, Lindsey Brown, Meagan Brown, McKenzie Robertson and husband Wesley, Madison Brown, Annie Brown, Shannon Callen, Bailee Parrish, Caroline Parrish, and Landon Parrish; and her great-grandchildren, Gemma Clyde Robertson and soon-to-arrive Wylie Haddon Robertson.
