Charlotte Conn Obituary

A memorial graveside service for Charlotte LeBeau Conn, 93, of Wills Point, TX, is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

 

Charlotte LeBeau Conn was born at home in Morrow River, South Dakota, October 22, 1927. She was welcomed at the gates of Heaven on Sunday, December 6, 2020.

 

Charlotte grew up on the Cheyenne River Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota. She was sent to the Indian agency boarding school and from there she graduated as a Registered Nurse from Presentation College in 1948. She was a member of the United States Nurses Corps of World War II in 1945. After marrying Billy Conn in 1945, they eventually settled in Wills Point, Billy's hometown.

 

Charlotte was the first school nurse in the Wills Point Independent School system starting in 1965, and retired 30 years later in 1995. She also served as the Head Nurse at Baker Clinic for many years as well as caring for seniors at Crestwood in her later years when she was a senior herself. Over her school nurse tenure, she has cared for thousands of children and teens and found great joy in doing so.

 

Charlotte was a member of the Russell Memorial United Methodist Church where she was in the Seeker's Class and UMW and many other roles throughout the years. In 1975, she was honored by the Rotary Club Rotary Anns as Woman of the Year. Charlotte viewed her life as an opportunity to be in service to others. Her kind and loving spirit will continue to be remember for years to come.

 

Charlotte was preceded in death by husband, Billy E. Conn Sr.; parents, Antoine Sydney and Katherine Cecilia LeBeau; brother, Melvin LeBeau; sisters, Caroline LeBeau, Amelia LaPlante, Darlene King, Pauline Ducheneaux, and Antoinette Claymore.

 

She is survived by her 5 children, Carey of Dallas, Billy (Gene) of Wills Point, Joel (Joey) Wills Point, Chris and wife Paula of Lancaster, Cecile of Wills Point; her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren include: Christopher Conn and wife JiHyun and Oran of Seoul, South Korea; Mandy Conn, Dezier and Kiezer Martinez of Dallas, Shawna and husband Sinisa, Iva and Oliver Vrvilo of Fort Worth, Lyndsey Conn, Hagen and Cade Grimes and Alexander Byars of Lancaster and Wren Conn of Dallas; She is also survived by her sisters, Esther Thompson of Eagle Butte, SD, Caroline and Butch Thorsen of Aberdeen, SD and Lila and Butch LaDue of Belle Fourche, SD; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

 

To honor her love of children, her family suggests choosing a local child/teen from the Angel Trees located within Wills Point or a donation to the Prayer Group of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church.
