Charles Michael Porter, or Mike as everyone knew him, passed away on November 25, 2023, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 78. Friends and family will gather for graveside services at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 1, 2023, at Shannon Cemetery in Shannon, TX. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Born on October 14, 1945, in Wichita Falls, TX, Mike grew up there and later settled in Garland. In 1982, he moved to Wills Point and started his own gig, Porter Tool & Dye, after working with Otis Engineering.
Mike was a regular at the Old Geezer Club, meeting with friends every Tuesday in John's garage. They'd shoot the breeze, sharing laughs and trying to figure out the world's problems.
He was a man of the outdoors, loving hunting and fishing. Mike was also a gun enthusiast and liked reloading his own ammo.
Mike is survived by his sons, Mickey and Brian with wife Melanie, and daughter Lori with husband Rob. His sister, Linda Bledsoe, and husband Bill of Deleon, also mourn his passing. Grandchildren Britney Todovovic, Cody Porter, Shelby Hill, Sheena Gunnels, Dustin Fields, Maegann Porter, and Mikayla Poole, along with eight great-grandchildren, will carry on his memory.
