Charles "Ed" Edward Henson

Funeral services for Charles Edward “Ed” Henson, 92, of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time starting at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Small Cemetery.

Ed passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

Charles Edward Henson was born on October 24, 1928, in Edgewood, TX, to parents, Andrew Virgil Henson and Evie Estelle Hays Henson. He was raised in Grand Saline and Fruitvale where he attended Grand Saline Independent School District. After school Ed enlisted in the United States Army in California in 1952, and was ready to serve his country at a young age. He married Wynell Phillips in Rockwall, TX, on January 17, 1953, and they lived in Arlington and Dallas during his career. Ed worked for Ford Motor Company before leaving to become the 2nd hire at General Motors in Arlington. He worked as the general foreman over the body shop before retiring at the age of 55. Ed served 50 years in the Wills Point and Edgewood Masonic Lodges. He was a 32nd degree mason, past master of the Edgewood Masonic Lodge and a member of the Wills Point Masonic Lodge. Ed and Wynell made their home in the Edgewood community thirty-seven years ago. He loved the outdoors, traveling, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed crafts and woodworking. Ed was dearly loved by all of his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Evie Henson and brother, Virgil Henson.

Ed is survived by his wife, Pansy Wynell Henson of Edgewood, TX; faithful friend and loyal companion, Rusty; sons, Gary Wayne Henson of Edgewood, TX, and Eddie Henson and wife, LeNeva of Fort Worth, TX; daughters, Joyce Henson of Edgewood, TX, Kathy Henson Griffin of Fort Worth, TX, and Cynthia Henson Spurgeon and husband, Andy of Edgewood, TX; brothers, Joe Howard Henson and wife, Ann of Terrell, TX, and William Henson and wife, Sherry of Edgewood, TX; sister, Patricia Williams and husband, John of Duncanville, TX; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
