Funeral services for Candeleria “Candy” Hinson, 77, of Grand Saline, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, May 19, 2025, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Candy passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 12, 2025.
She was born on February 2, 1948, in Edgewood, TX, to parents Felix Vasquez, Sr. and Porfiria Flores Vasquez. In 1968, she married and was blessed with two children. After graduating high school, Candy lived in Dallas until the 1990’s and then relocated to North Carolina for 10 years. She returned to Van Zandt County to live out the remainder of her life.
Candy accepted the Lord into her heart at the young age of 16 and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. She was a devoted Christian who attended various Baptist churches over the years, including Junius Heights Baptist Church in Dallas, Pruitt Baptist Church in Van, and First Baptist Church in Murphy.
Professionally, Candy worked for Republic Bank on Greenville Avenue in Dallas for over 11 years. She later served as a director for the Crisis Council with the Montgomery County School System in North Carolina for 10 years. A homemaker at heart, she also worked for the health department, rounding out a career of service and care for others.
Above all, Candy cherished her family. She loved hosting family dinners, celebrating holidays, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Candy’s legacy is one of faith, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones.
She is preceded by her parents, Felix and Porfiria Vasquez; brother, Pete Vasquez; daughter-in-law, Bianca Vasquez.
Candy is survived by her son, Michael Vasquez of Dallas, TX; daughter, Paula Henson and husband Cliff of Brownsboro, TX; grandchildren, Michael II, Ana, Anthony, Erica, Sabrina, Shelby, Gabriella, Christian and Abigail; fourteen great grandchildren; brothers, Theodore Vasquez of Mesquite, TX, Domingo Vasquez of San Antonio, TX, Felix Vasquez, Jr. of Grand Saline, TX, and Rudy Vasquez of Allen, TX; sisters, Cecelia Kolb of Wills Point, TX, Juanita Russell of Edgewood, TX, Leonor Laughlin of Farmers Branch, TX, Maria Mora and husband Juan of Mesquite, TX, and Irene Griffin and husband Ralph of Grand Saline, TX.
