Burley James “B.J.” Furrh, 81, of Edgewood, TX, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 25, 2024.
B.J. was born on July 31, 1943, in El Paso, TX, to Millard M. Furrh, Sr., and June Kathryn Stinnett Furrh. While serving his country in the United States Navy as an E5 aviation electronic technician and Petty Officer 2nd Class, he earned his high school diploma and later pursued studies at Eastfield College. After dedicating over 32 years as an outside repair lineman for Southwestern Bell, he retired in March of 2004.
On May 28, 1984, B.J. married Lee Ann Wilson. Together, they first lived in Terrell before settling in Edgewood, TX, to raise their family. A man of faith, B.J. was a dedicated member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, contributing his time and energy to various church committees.
B.J. was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and June Furrh; his daughter, Samantha Nicole Furrh; and his brother, Mickey Furrh.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lee Ann Furrh of Edgewood, TX; daughters, Tessa Marie Furrh of Sulfur Springs, TX, Kimberly June Furrh of Edgewood, TX, Alyssa Furrh Henderson and husband Justin of Edgewood, TX, and Marissa Furrh of Edgewood, TX; son, B.J. Price; grandchildren, Kiara Furrh, Austin Peugh, Kady Neighbors, Brysen Furrh, Jason Jenkins, Jr., Tristan Price and Lucas Price; as well as a host of extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Services
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 3:30 PM, also at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
