Funeral services for Brenda Gerold, 70, of Mesquite, Texas, are scheduled for 12:00 PM, Friday, October 3, 2025, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, prior to the service.

Brenda passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Mesquite.

Brenda Lee Johnson was born on November 2, 1954, in San Francisco, California, to parents Walter Johnson and her biological mother, Anna Schlender Johnson. She moved to Texas at a young age, attending Pleasant Grove Elementary and later graduating from Skyline High School in 1972. Brenda married Neil K. Gerold on July 17, 1972. She had a long-time career as an executive secretary for Hunt Oil & Woodbine commercial development. Brenda was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mesquite.

In her younger years, Brenda enjoyed doing ceramics and going on motorcycle rides with her husband, his family, their sons, and many friends. She loved traveling on family vacations, especially cruises, and spending weekends on the boat or around the pool during cookouts. Dining out at El Fenix or Texas Roadhouse with a margarita was one of her simple pleasures. Brenda also cherished Christmas time, especially watching Hallmark movies with a cup of hot chocolate.

Above all, Brenda’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and their activities. She loved watching Mallorie in dance, cheering for Preston in soccer, baseball, and football, and supporting Grayson in baseball, soccer, football, and pole vaulting.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Johnson and stepmother Joyce Johnson; biological mother, Anna Schlender Johnson; and brothers, Doug Johnson and Clay Johnson.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Neil K. Gerold; sons, Craig Gerold and Kevin Gerold and his wife Jennifer; and grandchildren, Mallorie McFarlin, Preston Gerold, and Grayson Gerold.
