A celebration of life for Bonnie Cameron George, 87, of Wills Point, TX, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church. A reception for family and friends will be held in George hall immediately after services. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
Born the 12th of 12 children to Ethel Adeline and Beecher Cleveland Cameron in Pioneer, Texas on March 7th, 1934, Bonnie Wayne Cameron George brought the wisdom of a sage, the tender heart of a child, a wit - quick as lightning, and a fierce loyalty to family, friends, and her beloved husband of 59 years, Weldon Jack, into the world.
Bonnie and Weldon were married on April 21, 1962. Bonnie blessed her three children, Camara, Brent and Dierdre with this marriage and Bradley Jack was born in 1966. They raised the family in Euless, Tx. where Bonnie was an active and involved booster of gymnastics, football, baseball, dance, theater and PTA, in which she was honored as a Lifetime Member.
Growing up Pentecostal, Bonnie had a command of Bible verses, sung as acapella hymns with her sisters and later, to her children. After moving to Wills Point, Tx in 1999, she continued her devotion and spiritual growth as a member of the Russell Memorial Methodist Church where she served on the Memorial Board, President of the Seeker’s Class, Choir Member, taught both Adult and Children’s Sunday School Classes, and was recognized as United Methodist Women’s - Woman of The Year 2019.
Her many gifts and talents allowed her to share much beauty with the world through her charitable service, painting, dancing, singing, poetry, theater, crafting, sewing, gardening, decorating, hosting glorious parties and teaching. Bonnie received the “Newcomer -Biddy Award” from the Wills Point Community Theater in 2002. Always an advocate for children, she was awarded the Leadership Award by The East Texas Crisis Center in 2007.
The matriarch of a large family, Bonnie was the “favorite aunt”, the “best friend” sister, the “Kool-Aid” mom, the “Grandmama’s rules” (or lack thereof) grandmother and an eternally grateful and devoted wife. She was also a kind and loyal friend who knew you must be-a-friend to have-a-friend. She was always surrounded by many, many faithful friends and much family.
Bonnie passed from her earthly body and returned to the arms of Jesus and the heart of God on July 14, 2021. She will be greatly missed, but her life-light will be carried by all whom she touched. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Weldon Jack George; daughter, Camara Clifton, son, Brent Clifton and wife Colleen, daughter, Dierdre Clifton-Tinker and husband Joe and son, Bradley Jack George; Grandchildren: Dustin Clifton Metzler and husband Richard, Andrew Tinker and wife Yana, Logan Clifton, George Cameron Tinker and wife Lindsay, Bonnie Orpurt and William Tinker, and seven great grandchildren.
