Funeral services for Billy Ray Langford, 89, of Wills Point, Texas, are scheduled for 4:00 PM, Friday, July 23, 2021, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Dresden Cemetery in Blooming Grove, Texas.
Billy Ray passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, in Ennis, TX.
Billy Ray Langford was born September 25, 1931, and was raised in Van Zandt County in the Alsa Community to parents, Jake William Langford and Essie Lee Allen Langford. He graduated from Quinlan High School. Billy Ray married Betty Jean Tindell on November 18, 1950, in Rockwall. He and Betty lived in Abilene for 30 years before making his final home in Wills Point. Billy Ray owned his own company, roofing all over the state of Texas for 51 years. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Trinity Baptist Church in Abilene in the 1960’s. Billy Ray raised cattle and horses. Appaloosa horses were his favorite. He enjoyed cooking, spending time outdoors, gardening, growing veggies and flowers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Essie Langford; wife, Betty Jean (Tindell) Langford; sisters, Lou Nelson, Pauline Baines and Iva Melton; great granddaughter, Hanna Mack; brother, Emmett Langford; son-in-law, Michael Runion.
Billy Ray is survived by his daughters, Janet Gollehon and husband, Tommy Macalik of Ennis, TX, and Sandra Runion of Blooming Grove, TX; granddaughters, Angela Carrillo of Ennis, TX, Lori Raxter of Waco, TX, Dana Contreras of Corsicana, TX, and Jamie Leigh Ray of Blooming Grove, TX; grandson, Dustin Gollehon of Ennis, TX; twenty great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; nephew, Billy Jack McCormick of Wills Point, TX; nieces, Linda McGehee, Lisa Nelson and Sherry Williams all of Wills Point, TX; and many other relatives and friends in the area.
