Bettye Jane Middleton

Funeral services for Bettye Jane Middleton, 86, of Grand Saline will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point with Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow at Myrtle Springs Cemetery.

Bettye passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017, in Grand Saline.

Bettye Jane Sealy was born March 16, 1931, in La Mesa, TX, to parents Virgil Fuller Sealy and Thelma Louie Bates. Bettye was raised in Myrtle Springs, her family moved to Dallas when she was twelve and she graduated from North Dallas High School with Honors. She married Donald E. Underwood in Dallas in 1952, they had three children. They later divorced and Bettye married Johnie Middleton on October 24, 1959. She and Johnie lived in Dallas until returning to the Grand Saline area for the past 25 years. Bettye was a secretary for RCA Communications for 16 years before retiring. She was a member of the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church near Grand Saline.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Newt Middleton, and a son, Walter Mark Underwood.

Bettye is survived by her son, Robert Bruce Underwood, of California; daughter, Donna Ellsworth, of Mineral Springs, AR; brother, Jimmy Fondren Sealy, of Oregon; sister, Romilda Foreman and husband, James, of Wills Point; grandchildren, Eric and Kandis Ellsworth, Steve and Lindsay Ellsworth and Crystal Underwood; great grandchildren, Rylan and Jacob, along with many nieces, nephews and other family members.
