Betty Lois Johnson was born on May 22, 1932, in Kerrville, Texas, to Sherman Hanes Johnson and Stella Virginia Hollister Johnson. She was a lifelong resident of Wills Point and graduate of Wills Point High School. Betty married Dyde Manning, Jr. in 1954, beginning a marriage that would span 56 wonderful years.

Betty was a devoted member of Russell Memorial Methodist Church for most of her life. She faithfully served as the church secretary for many years and enjoyed mentoring young people as a youth group sponsor. Her dedication to her community was evident through her service as treasurer of the Wills Point Alumni Association, her involvement with the American Cancer Society and the Wills Point Historical Society, and her many years of service as an election judge for both the city and county.

Betty and her niece, Marsha Nowell opened “Timeless Accessories” in 1982, and it was one of the most popular dress shops until 1998. Betty was known for her servant's heart, unwavering faith, and genuine love for her family, church, and community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman Johnson and Stella Johnson Ellis; her beloved husband of 56 years, Dyde Manning, Jr.; granddaughter, Kristen Manning; brother, David Earl Johnson; sisters, Edna Mae Johnson and Geneva Ann Coomer; aunt, Alice Hines; and nieces, LeAnn Rogers and Sara Lee Rogers.

Betty is lovingly remembered by her son, Dyde Manning III and wife, Cindy, of Wills Point; daughter, Virginia "Ginger" Manning of Wills Point; granddaughters, Cassie Manning Serur and husband Ash and Lauren Manning; sister, Nancy Rogers of Wills Point; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives she touched.
