Funeral services for Inez Wakefield, 90, of Wills Point, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, November 3, 2025, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home, with burial to follow at White Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
Inez passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
Born Bessie Inez Spears on October 5, 1935, in Wills Point, TX, she was the daughter of Forrest and Catherine Johnson Scott. Inez graduated from Wills Point High School before moving to Garland, TX, where she spent most of her life. On January 19, 1952, she married Harry R. March, and together they had two daughters and spent 30 years together before later divorcing. In 1982, Inez married Bob Wakefield, and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage, blending their families with an additional five children. Bob preceded her in death.
Inez began her career with Grand Avenue Bank in Dallas and later worked for many years as an assistant cashier at White Rock National Bank before retiring in 1983. During her time in Garland, she was an active member of St. Philip’s Methodist Church. In 2016, Inez returned to Wills Point to be closer to her daughters. In her free time, Inez was an avid reader, enjoyed walking, and had a special bond with her beloved dog, Ridley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Catherine Scott; her husbands, Harry March and Bob Wakefield; her sister, Joyce Cornwell; and her brother, Clyde Scott and wife Peggy. Inez is survived by her daughters, Deborah Joyce March (Terry Holderman) and Pamala March; Inez cherished her blended family as well, Diana Wakefield, Greg Wakefield, Roger Wakefield, Sabra McGraw (Mayfield) and Robert Wakefield (Julie); her brother, Dale Scott (Evelyn); her grandchildren, Jason Carroll, Justin Carroll (Colleen), Brandon Johnson, and Brittney Yeary (Chad); her great-grandchildren, Corban, Connor, Cade, Tatum and Bryson Carroll, Oliver Yeary, and Miles Johnson; along with numerous other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
