Bennell Lyons

A graveside service for Bennell Lyons, 67, of Wills Point, TX, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, April 9, 2021, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Bennell passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at his home.

Bennell Lyons was born on August 22, 1953, in Wills Point, TX, to parents, L.K. Lyons and Leola Sanders Lyons. He was a lifetime resident of Wills Point and attended Wills Point schools growing up. Bennell worked in housekeeping for Terrell State Hospital over thirty years before retiring in September of 2015. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Bennell loved playing Texas Lotto, enjoyed tinkering with his car and riding around town.

He is preceded in death by his father, L.K. Lyons and brother, Leon Lyons.

Bennell is survived by mother, Leola Lyons of Wills Point, TX; his brothers, Melvin Lyons of Wills Point, TX, James H. Lyons of Dallas, TX, Sherman Lyons of Wills Point, TX, Robert Lyons of Wills Point, TX, and Johnny Rogers of Wills Point, TX; sisters, Theresa Handy and husband, L.D. of Wills Point, TX, and Patricia Fields of Wills Point, TX; special friends, Carlton Dunn, Lessie Abernathy and Juliette Myers; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
