Funeral services for Barbara James, 85, of Edgewood, Texas, are scheduled for 12:00 PM, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood.
Barbara passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Terrell, Texas.
Barbara Martin was born on February 13, 1941, in Fort Worth, Texas, to J.C. Martin and Opal Pearl Ragland Martin. She was raised in the New Hope Community, now known as Sunnyvale. Barbara attended New Hope School until its closure and later graduated from Forney High School.
On December 31, 1959, she married the love of her life, Billy Fred James, in Van Zandt County. They made their home in Mesquite, where Barbara worked for over 25 years in shipping and receiving at Cumming’s Diesel. After 47 years in Mesquite, Barbara and Billy moved to Wills Point in 2006. They were faithful members of the Edgewood Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Opal Martin, and her husband, Billy Fred James.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Cindy Greenhaw and husband Wayne of Edgewood; her sister, Clarice Warren and husband Mac of Nashville, Arkansas; and her granddaughter, Stacey Greenhaw of Edgewood, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
