Funeral services for Arvis Joe Sanders, 82, of Wills Point, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, March 9, 2020, at Bold Pilgrim Baptist Church in Kaufman. Burial will follow at Haven of Memories in Canton. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
Arvis passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020, in Wills Point.
Arvis Joe Sanders was born on January 29, 1938, in Wills Point, TX, to parents, Loy Lee Sanders and Kathleen Faulk Sanders. He was raised in Wills Point and graduated as Valedictorian of his class from Cartwright High School in 1956. Arvis was employed by Terrell State Hospital for twenty years before retiring. After retiring, he raised cattle in the Wills Point area. He married Josie Bell Wilson on February 11, 1995, in Edgewood, Texas. Arvis was a life-long resident of Wills Point. He attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Wills Point for many years, and was an active member of Bold Pilgrim Baptist Church in Kaufman where he served as deacon and choir president.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Loy and Kathleen Sanders; sister, Mary Barnes and brothers, Loy C. Sanders, Charles O. Sanders and William A. Sanders.
Arvis is survived by his wife, Josie Sanders of Wills Point, TX; daughters, Sharon Moore and husband, Sam of Rosharon, TX, and Linda Webb and husband, Sidney of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, LaSondra Louis of Carrollton, TX, and Larry Hubbard (Val) of Houston, TX; Great grandchildren, Jayla Alexis Louis and Callie Mo’Nae Jones of Carrollton, TX; Dominic Rene’ Hubbard of Houston, TX; God-daughter, Yvette Smith Chatman of Gardena, California; along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
