Tony Smith was born on July 11, 1962, in Wills Point, TX. to Jerry and Carol Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Don Smith. He is survived by mother, Carol Miller Smith, wife, Michelle Smith, daughters Audra and Allie Smith, daughter Amber Plummer and her husband Ryan and their daughters Catherine and Elowyn Plummer as well as a son due in November, and sons Will and Witt Smith.
Tony grew up in the Hayden community and attended school in Wills Point. He was raised on the farm in Hayden with his grandparents. His love for the earth and hard work remained with him always. The close-knit community of his youth was part of what drew him to God and humble service to other people. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior on October 25, 1973, at the age of 11. A love for working with his hands manifested through a long career in carpentry, residential construction, and various odd jobs with his father like making jewelry sold in their shop, JS Jewelry in downtown Wills Point. One of the most enjoyable times of his life was his time working for the marina on Lake Tawakoni. He had a love for water leading to a desire to work in Marine biology which he spoke of fondly. Tony spent some time serving in the Air Force and reached the rank of Life Scout as a boy. He loved music and spending time with his family and grandbabies.
