Ann Candace "Candy" Wingo, 77, of Wills Point, TX, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in Dallas. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Candy was born on January 31, 1947, in Jacksonville, TX, to her parents W.H. Wingo, Jr. and Lola Joyner Wingo. She grew up in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School in 1965. Candy pursued her passion for education, earning her degree from Texas Women’s University in 1970. She dedicated over 30 years to teaching at Terrell Middle School before retiring.

On June 17, 1997, Candy married Jerry Glynn Hollister in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She was a cherished member of Russell Memorial Methodist Church, where she formed many close friendships and served actively in the Methodist Youth Fellowship. Candy also had a special connection to scouting through her father's involvement and was an honorary boy scout. She had a love for the outdoors, the Rocky Mountains and camping. Candy enjoyed fishing in all areas of the world, especially on a 55-foot Viking sports fishing boat. She was also an avid Aggie Football fan.

Candy was preceded in death by her parents, W.H. "Blitz" Wingo, Jr. and Lola "Poopie" Joyner Wingo, as well as her siblings, Dorothy "Dibi" Lanell Jones, Elizabeth Josephine "JoJo" Ellis and Bob J. Wingo. She was also preceded by her sister-in-law Jackie Groom and her husband Rudy, and brother-in-law Jim Clark.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Hollister; stepson, Jeremy Hollister and his wife Mandy, along with their children Morgan, Jack, and great-granddaughter Sammy. Candy is also survived by her nieces, Lisa Hagle and Dr. Susan Wingo, her nephew Dr. Kip Wingo, sister-in-law Wanda Clark, and brother-in-law Don Hollister and his wife Judith; along with numerous other family members and friends.

Candy Wingo leaves behind a legacy of warmth, dedication to education, and cherished relationships with family and friends.
