Alma Maxine Hays Davis, beloved resident of Wills Point, TX, departed this life on Monday, December 11, 2023, in Mesquite at the age of 75. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home, with visitation scheduled half an hour prior to the service.
Maxine was born on January 1, 1948, in Beebe, Arkansas, to Charles Hannibal Hays and Alma Lorene Pettypool Hays. She spent her formative years in Wills Point, having moved there in 1963 from Denison. Maxine graduated from Wills Point High School and later married Ronald A. Simmons in Mineola in 1968. The couple lived in various cities before making Wills Point their home.
While primarily dedicating herself to the roles of homemaker and mother, Maxine also had a fulfilling career in home health care with Jordan Health Services. She was an active member of the First Christian Church, finding solace and inspiration in reading the Bible. Maxine possessed a creative spirit, showcasing her artistic talents in her younger years and even participating in the East Texas Poet Society, following in her mother's artistic footsteps.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Maxine's favorite pastime was being surrounded by her cherished family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a deep appreciation for life's simple joys.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alma Hays, and her sister Sheila Hays
She is survived by her brother, Charles K. Hays, her sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Ralph Simpson, her children, Tony Simmons, Tim Simmons, Andy Simmons and his wife Valerie, and Alicia Mailes, 14 grandchildren and their partners, and 10 great grandchildren.
