William Stallings

Funeral services for William “Willie” Stallings, 76, of Edgewood, are scheduled at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Edgewood, Texas.  Burial will follow at Small Cemetery.  Services are under direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral home in Edgewood, Texas.

William Stallings was born in the Elwood Community on September 16, 1940.  He was the son of Roper Stallings and Inez Campbell Stallings. Willie married Carlene Fears March 11, 1960, and made their home in Edgewood, where they raised their daughters, Tammy and Sandra.  Willie worked as a carpenter for many years before gaining employment with the City of Mesquite as a mechanic and retired in 2007.  He was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church and enjoyed serving as the music minister. Willie loved the lord with all his heart. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Inez Morris; father, Roper Stallings; step-dad, Lee Roy Morris; brother, Junior Morris; and father and mother-in-law, Sam and Lois Fears.

Willie is survived by his wife, Carlene Stallings of Edgewood; daughters, Tammy Stallings and Sandra Evans and husband Travis, all of Edgewood; grandchildren, Rachel Goodson and husband Adam, Justin Owings and wife Melissa, Josh Owings, Clint Evans, Valerie Hoover and husband Russell; great grandchildren, Peyton Goodson, Mason Goodson, Branden Pyle, Madison Owings, Brynley Owings and Hadley Hoover; brother, James Stallings; and sister, Thelma Stallings.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 Pm Monday evening at the funeral home in Edgewood, Texas.
