Richard Garrison Oats

Funeral services for Richard “Richie” Garrison Oats, 40, will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 11, 2019, at the First Baptist Church, 125 E. James Street, Wills Point, Texas.

Richie suddenly passed away October 8, 2019 in Quinlan.

Richard “Richie” Garrsion Oats was born July 1, 1979 to Gary Wayne Oats and Ramona Kathryn Burnett Oats in Dallas, Texas.  He lived in Wills Point and worked alongside his father, Gary, tree trimming, tree pruning and tree removal.   Richie attended Wills Point Schools.

Richie loved sports, good food and music.  In his youth, he played baseball, basketball and soccer.  As an adult, he loved watching all sports, especially football and his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

Anyone that knew Richie, knew that he had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, and loved to tell jokes.  He never missed an episode of Impractical Jokers.  Throughout his adult struggles, Richie fought to be happy and make others feel good.

Richie is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Raymond Burnett and Weldon Oats; cousins, Brian and Brannon Oats.

Richie is survived by his parents, Gary and Ramona Oats of Wills Point; brother, Jeremy Oats of Wills Point; grandmothers, Betty Burnett of Wills Point and Juanita Oats of Elmo; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
