Memorial services for Nancy Isabel Cole Brooks, 96, of Mineola, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. A private family graveside will be held at White Rose Cemetery.
Nancy Isabel Cole was born December 11, 1921, in Atlanta, TX, to parents, William Everette Cole and Helen Margaret Chamblee Cole. She was raised in Wills Point and graduated Wills Point High School as Valedictorian when she was seventeen years old. Isabel later went to Trinity Business School in Waxahachie, where she attained some of the highest grades in the school. She married Neal Swank Brooks, Sr. in 1941, in Wills Point, TX. They settled in Edgewood, TX and later moved to Brownsville, TX, where she was a member of the Jr. Service League and was one of her favorite cities. She was a bookkeeper for Brooks & King Gin in Edgewood and also worked for the Federal Reserve as a secretary. Isabel was a member of First Baptist Church of Edgewood. Isabel and Neal retired together, settling in Mineola.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Neal Swank Brooks and her brother, Marion Everette Cole.
Isabel is survived by her son, Neal Swank Brooks and wife, Debbie, of The Woodlands, TX; daughters, Jeane Gibson of Salt Lake City, Utah and Nancy Karen Carter and husband, Tom, of Greer, SC; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
