Funeral services for Melba “Jan” Campbell, 79, of Fruitvale, TX, are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial will follow at Starr Cemetery in Canton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
Jan passed away December 29, 2018, in Tyler, TX.
Melba Jan Massey was born August 30, 1939, in Myrtle Springs, TX, to Denver Massey and Vada Waller Massey. She was raised in Myrtle Springs and Edgewood and graduated from Edgewood High School. Jan married Harold Dean Campbell in 1958 and they raised two children in Garland. She was a homemaker and was also employed by Walmart as a cashier in Canton for twenty years before retiring in 2018. Jan was of the Church of Christ faith. She enjoyed playing poker and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Campbell (May 6, 2018); brother, Delton Massey; grandson, Jerry Charles Shelton (March 21, 1983).
Jan is survived by son, Lanny Dean Campbell of Garland; daughter, Renee Shelton of Fruitvale; brothers, Danny Massey of Fruitvale and Bob Massey of Sulfur Springs; grandchildren, Rachelle Renee Shelton, Marlan Dean Campbell and Jordan Elaine Campbell; great grandchildren, Jesarae Renee Garner, Aiden Dean Campbell, Journey Lane Campbell; great-great grandchild, Stetson Cole Tanner and her beloved fur baby, Lumi.
