Juanita (Birdwell) Simmons

Funeral services for Juanita Simmons, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, September 15, 2017, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Edgewood.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Juanita passed away September 12, 2017, in Corsicana.

Juanita Birdwell Simmons was born March 31, 1926, to the late Fred and Altea Birdwell. She moved to Edgewood at an early age and graduated from Edgewood High School.  She married Edward Devon Simmons in 1945 and together they raised four children, Mickey, Richard, John and Nancy.  Juanita was a very loving mother and a hard worker.  She was employed as a clerk at a grocery store, ran a fruit stand and helped on the farm and loved to fish. She was a long time member of Rainey’s Chapel.

She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as, her husband, Edward Devon Simmons and her sisters, Dessie Perritt and Allie McConnell.

Juanita is survived by her sons, Mickey Simmons and wife Candy of Spring Branch,

John Simmons and wife Jamie of Edgewood and Richard Simmons of Edgewood; daughter, Nancy Smith of Corsicana; grandchildren, April Osgood, Carter Simmons, Grant Simmons. Eric Smith, Curtis Simmons, Jarrett Simmons, Coleman Simmons and Mitchel Simmons; and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
