Joyce Elaine Williams

Funeral services for Joyce Elaine Williams, 80, of Fruitvale, are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Monday, December 4, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Fruitvale. Burial will follow at College Mound Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Joyce Elaine Bennett was born May 5, 1937, in Binghamton, NY, to the late Albert John and Mary Elizabeth Bennett. Joyce married Donald Leroy Williams on August 18, 1962, in Norwich, NY. They lived in Irving, TX and in Grand Saline, TX, but made Fruitvale their forever home in 1979. Joyce worked in the restaurant business for 25 years. A consummate mother and homemaker, Joyce was an excellent cook and her specialty was chicken and dumplings, something the whole family loved. Her children, grandkids and great grandkids were her top priority. She raised her grandkids as much as she raised her own kids. Joyce also took care of her husband, Donald, after he became disabled. She had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fruitvale.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary; husband, Donald Leroy Williams; sisters, Mary Lou Harris and Barbara McDonough; brother, Phillip Bennett; son, Donald Williams, Jr.; daughter, Deborah Warshaw; and son, David Williams.

Joyce is survived by her son, Dale Williams and wife, Charlotte of Dallas, TX; daughter, Denee Hill and husband, Tony of Canton, TX; sister, Constance Kennedy of Binghamton, NY; brother, Frank Bennett of Binghamton, NY; sister, Joan Mills of Irving, TX; brother-in-law, Jim Valentine of Fruitvale, TX and Nadine Cornell of Johnson City, NY; son, Albert Williams and wife, Eunice of Lusby, MD; daughter, Mary Brunger of Lusby, MD; son, Frank Williams of Lusby, MD; daughters, Jeri Mead of Lusby, MD, Donna Bishop of Greenville, SC, and Sheri Thrift of Piedmont, SC; sister-in-law, Margaret Kahn of Tampa, FL, along with numerous grandkids, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 PM, Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
