Joseph Paul Hess

Memorial services for Joseph Paul Hess, 69, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Russell Memorial Methodist Church in Wills Point with Pastor David Cartwright officiating.  Family visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Joe passed away at his home on Friday, August 4, 2017.

Joseph Paul Hess was born November 3, 1947, in Minot, North Dakota, to the late Paul Joseph Hess and Helen Adele Mitts Hess. He graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in Minot, ND. He then attended North Dakota State University and later graduated with a degree in economics from the University of North Dakota. While living in Oklahoma City, he received a degree in accounting from Central State University in Edmond, OK. He became a CPA shortly after moving back to Texas. His love for numbers and solving problems showed throughout his professional career both in insurance underwriting and his accounting practice.

Joe married Ginger Roberts in Carrollton, on April 14, 1973, and they lived in the Dallas area and Oklahoma City prior to moving to Wills Point in 1983 to make their forever home, and raise their children, Paul and Julie. Joe was a member of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point.

Joe enjoyed living a quiet life in the small town of Wills Point. If he wasn't trail riding on a favorite horse, you could find him working the farm, welding, or using his carpentry skills to perfect whatever he could find. He had many talents and could tackle anything he set his mind to, whether it was business, ranching, cooking, grilling, or recreation. He dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret Mary Hess, sister Ellen Fleck and husband Gene; and father and mother-in-law, Troy Durward Roberts Sr. and Mary Lois Roberts.

Joe is survived by his wife, Ginger Hess of Wills Point; son, Paul J. Hess and wife Jessica of Southlake and their children, Genevieve and Allana; daughter, Julie Marical and husband Charles of Wills Point and their children, Blake and Case; nieces and nephew, Margaret Fleck of Carson, CA, Nancy and Mark Smith of Lewisville, Carol and Steve Friddle of Minot, ND, Paul and Darla Fleck of Round Rock; brother and sister-in-law, Troy D. Roberts Jr. and wife, Jeanne of Kingsport, TN; and many other relatives and friends.
