Jimmie passed away on May 27, 2019, at his home in Edgewood.

Jimmie Lee Champion was born January 6, 1938, in Emory, Texas to John Isaac and Parlee Snell Champion. He was raised in Emory but spent most of his adult life in Dallas. On March 29, 1961, Jimmie married Iris Ann Champion in Durant, OK. In his early years, he worked doing drywalling and later owned and operated several used car lots. In 1985 he moved back to Emory and opened Cut-Rate Mobile Homes. In 1992, he and Iris opened and operated The Blue Jean Man store in Edgewood until her passing in 2008 — at which time their oldest son Steve took over the family business. In his younger years Jimmie enjoyed dancing at the Long Horn Ball Room and Patty Club in Dallas. While living in Emory in the 1990's, he took up song writing and enjoyed singing at the Point Jamboree and Thousand Trails in Tawakoni. In his later years he picked up dancing again and spent time at the Stardust near Canton.

Jimmie is preceded in death by his wife Iris Ann Champion; parents John Issac and Parlee Snell Champion; brothers Elmer Lee Champion, James Russell Champion, Charlie Evans Champion, William Preston Champion, Joe Allison Champion; and sisters Faye Nell Champion, Leavy Janetta Champion, Mary Naomi Champion, and Della Louise Champion.

He is survived by his sons Steven Lee Champion and Gretta Brock of Edgewood; Martin Dale Champion and wife Elsy of Royse City; grandchildren Michael Joe Champion, Amanda Marie Champion, Isaac Scott Champion, Sarah Elizabeth Champion, and  great-grand children Morgan, Sterling, and Diesel.
