Funeral services for James Thomas “J.T.” Waid, 77, of Myrtle Springs, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial will follow at Myrtle Springs Cemetery.
J.T. passed away on Monday, October 01, 2018.
James Thomas Waid was born September 12, 1941, in Commerce, TX, to parents, Charles Wesley Waid and Ruth Elizabeth Hearn. He was raised in Dallas and graduated high school in Dallas ISD. J.T. served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Sue Waid and they lived in Dallas until moving to Myrtle Springs after his retirement. J.T. was a mechanic in the Air Force and worked for the City of Dallas for several years as a supervisor. He and Sue worked together in food concession at First Monday Trade Days in Canton for fourteen years. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Central Church in Alba. J.T. loved fishing and built and raced cars on the dirt track. He loved Sue dearly as well as all of his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth Waid; his wife, Sue Waid; son, Claude Waid; sister, Della Richey; brothers, Shorty Waid and Leonard Waid.
James is survived by his sons, Bruce Waid and wife, Shirley, of Emory and Wesley Waid of Houston; daughter, Claudette Phelps and husband, Melvin, of Lindale; former wife, Geraldine Louise Coke; step-daughters, Peggy Bagette of Myrtle Springs and Billie Sue Renfrow and husband, Mike, of Texarkana; numerous grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
