Funeral services for James Harold “Big Foot” Robertson, of Edgewood, will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Edgewood. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
James passed away December 8, 2017, at his home in Edgewood.
James was born January 5, 1924, in Terrell, Texas, the son of John Thelo Robertson, Sr. and Denneth Christine Zink Robertson. He was raised in Edgewood and attended Edgewood High School. James was inducted into the United States Army January 5, 1943, and served his country as a Staff Sargent. On October 5, 1951, James married the love of his life, MayBell Hindman, near the Edgewood Community and were married for 66 years. They made their home in Grand Prairie, where James was employed as a truck driver, hauling concrete piping products, for Wales Trucking Company. In 1984, James and MayBell relocated to his hometown of Edgewood, where he started Robertson Trucking Company. James was a member of First Baptist Church in Edgewood.
Preceded in death by his parents, J.T. Robertson, Sr. and Denneth Robertson; three brothers, J.T. Robertson, Jr., and Ralph Robertson and Billy Robertson; three sisters, Margaret Moore, Clara Scearce and Emma Jane Robertson.
James is survived by his wife, MayBell Robertson of Edgewood; daughter, Vicki Martin of Edgewood; two sisters, Sue Wade, of Edgewood and Patricia LaRoe, of Terrell; grandchildren, Brittany Minix, Graham Minix, Caleb Martin and Machelle Stogner and husband Foy; and five great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Fedillis Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church in Edgewood.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday evening at the Edgewood funeral home.
