Geraldine Kuykendall

Funeral services for Geraldine Kuykendall, 85, of Valparaiso, IN, formerly of Mesquite, TX, are scheduled for 12:00 PM, Monday, September 16, 2019, at the Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood with Bro. Joe Stanley and Bro. Tim Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at Small Cemetery North of Edgewood. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Geraldine passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, in Valparaiso, IN.

Geraldine Burns was born December 3, 1933, in Dallas, Texas. She was raised in Kemp, TX, by her parents, Barney and Alta Rocha and graduated Kemp High School in 1952. Geraldine attended college and obtained her associates degree in health care administration. She and Ronald Kuykendall married on March 14, 1953, in Dallas where they made their home for many years until moving to Mesquite in 1963. Geraldine worked for Parkland Hospital as an X-Ray tech and in nursing home administration for a short time, but she was always a homemaker at heart. She was a member of the West Mesquite Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Union for several years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Alta Rocha and her husband, Ronald Kuykendall.

Geraldine is survived by her daughters, Vicki Jones and husband, Rick of Edgewood, TX, Debbie Jackson and husband, Will of Wills Point, TX, and Ronda Sharpless and husband, Melvin of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren, Brandy, Brandon, Rusty, Ryan, Ronnie, Shelby and Savanah; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Pallbearers serving will be Brandon Jackson, Rusty Johnson, Ronnie Patterson, Shelby Sharpless, Mark Hebert, Dylan Nguyen and Honorary Pallbearers, Jet Temple, Justin Jackson, US Coast Guard, and Ty Hebert, US Navy.
