Georgia Marie Pearson

Funeral services for Georgia Marie Pearson, 96, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Monday, January 22, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Wills Point. Burial will follow at Haven of Memories in Canton. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Georgia Marie Smith was born June 13, 1921, in Center Point, Arkansas to parents, George Washington Smith and Emma Erma Wilkerson Smith. She was raised in and attended school in Center Point, AR. Georgia moved to Wills Point as a very young lady. She married Johnnie Pearson in Rockwall on May 29, 1942, they lived in the Dallas area until they moved to Wills Point to make their home and raise their children. She and Johnnie moved to Garland from 1959 to 1964, and then moved back to Wills Point. Georgia retired from Collins Radio in Richardson in 1975. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Wills Point. Georgia enjoyed spending time with her Sunday school friends and loved her family dearly.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Emma Smith; husband, Johnnie Prine Pearson (2002); daughter, Gloria Leister Brown (2009); sisters, Dorothy Wilson (1960) and Irma Dean Pierce (1999); brother, Marvin Eugene Smith (WWII- 1944); son-in-law, Don Howard (1999).

Georgia is survived by her daughter, Edie Howard of Wills Point, TX; brother, Bob Smith and wife, Diana, of Bedford, TX; sister, Billie Powell of Wills Point, TX; grandchildren, Lisa Welch of Ridgecrest, CA, Vicki Dennis of Houston, TX, and David Howard of Rowlett, TX; great grandchildren, Richard McCrumb, Patrick McCrumb, Cameron Dennis, Ryan Dennis, Logan Howard and Kayleigh Howard, along with eight great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
