Evelyn Foster Obituary

Funeral services for Evelyn Elaine Foster, 85, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Friday, July 19, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Wills Point.  Burial will follow at White Rose Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Evelyn passed away July 11, 2019, in Terrell. The Family expresses their sincere gratitude and heartfelt thank you to Distinguished Senior Living (fondly known to Evelyn’s family as “The Club,”), and to Hospice+ for the love and care provided to Evelyn in the last years of her life.  She was truly surrounded by angels.

Evelyn Elaine Ekstrom was born on February 22, 1934, in the Sepo Community near Belleville Kansas, to the late Cecil W. and Mildred Inez Grossner Ekstrom.  She was raised in the farming community of Belleville and graduated from Belleville High School. While attending high school, she worked at an attorney’s office and at the local movie theater.   As a young woman, Evelyn moved to Beverly Hills, California, where she continued in a similar position, working for quite a high-profile attorney.  She was privy to more than a few high profile and rather scandalous cases.

Evelyn married Dale Alford Foster in Wichita, Kansas on November 22, 1958. They lived in various places including Wichita, Kansas, Aston, Pennsylvania and Kent, Washington. While in Kansas, Evelyn worked for Boeing Co. as a secretary for the director of contract administration. She was a founding member and an officer in the Concord Square Civic Association when living in Pennsylvania and was also the secretary to the Commissioners of Aston Township. In addition to various jobs, she was most proud of always putting her family first as a homemaker and raising her children.

In 1977, Dale’s career with the Boeing Co. presented the family with the opportunity to move to the Seattle area.  Evelyn remained in Pennsylvania an additional year before joining him, caring for her children so that her daughter could finish high school and graduate together with her friends and classmates.

Evelyn and Dale moved to Wills Point in 1987, to make their current home. She loved working in her garden and was especially proud to garner multiple “Yard of the Month” awards from the Wills Point Chronicle. Evelyn has been a member of the First Baptist Church since 1988. She loved to sing in the Choir and enjoyed traveling together with her friends to sing. She loved her consistent role delivering Meals on Wheels to her precious senior friends.  As an investor with Eddie Deen, via “The Ranch at Downtown Dallas,” she served two inaugurations for President George W. Bush.  Additional trips to Crawford and many events at “The Ranch” kept her front and center as a proud representative of her friend, Eddie Deen.  This was an especially perfect position for someone like Evelyn as she never, ever met a stranger and she hugged EVERYONE she ever met.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and by her siblings, Delbert, Darrell, and Cheryl Ekstrom.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Dale Foster of Wills Point; son, Jeff Foster and wife, Ann of Seattle, Washington; daughter, Vicki Foster and husband, Jon Stitt of Dallas; brother, Delton Ekstrom and wife, Kiko of Southlake; grandchildren, Maxwell and Bennett; as well as step-grandchildren, Allison and Tristan.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
