Funeral services for Dorothy Nell Hall, 94, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church in Edgewood with visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Dorothy will be buried at Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster, TX. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
Dorothy Nell Thomas was born April 11, 1924, in Whitney, TX, to parents, John Thomas and Amanda Roderick Thomas. She was raised in Hillsboro, TX, where she attended high school. She later graduated from Draughn’s Business College in Dallas, TX. Dorothy married Wayne B. Hall on February 26, 1939, in Hillsboro, TX. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Edwards Ford in Lancaster for several years and later worked as county tax assessor for Dallas County for 26 years before she retired. She lived in Lancaster most of her life until after the death of her husband, Wayne, and she became a member of the Edgewood community in 2002. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church in Edgewood, Flussie Mommy’s Red Hatters, Edgewood Historical Society, Bingo Club and served as Vice President for the Canton’s Senior Citizens Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Amanda Thomas; her husband, Wayne B. Hall; son, Jesse W. Hall; three sisters and six brothers.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Huckeby and husband, Ronny, of Athens, TX and B.J. Pendleton and husband, Jack, of Edgewood, TX; daughter-in-law, Judy Hall of Trinidad, TX; five grandchildren, Trae Wright and wife, Lue, Tami Corn and husband, Billy, Semonna Battingfield, Deanna Huckeby and Shanna Walsh; seven great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
