Funeral services for Clota Mae Vines, 89, of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Edgewood, with visitation 30 minutes prior to service time at 10:00 AM. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Small Cemetery in Edgewood.
Clota Mae Vines passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
Clota Mae Wortman was born May 2, 1929, in Edgewood, TX, to the late George W. and Nettie (Brown) Wortman. She married Samuel Ray Vines of Edgewood on November 1, 1946. They lived in Dallas, TX for 27 years where Clota worked as Communications Director for Timberlawn Hospital. In 1969, Clota and Ray moved back to Edgewood and made it their permanent home where they were members of First Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters, Mildred Joslin, Daphine King, Georgia Brooks, Edath Fears, and Nelda Smith.
Clota is survived by her brother, James (J.O.) Wortman of Dallas and one sister, Becky Parr of Dallas; one son, Anthony Ray (Tony) Vines and wife, Pat of Edgewood and one daughter, Cynthia Kay Joyce of Longview; two grandsons, Chris Vines and wife, Shellie and Scott Joyce and wife, Paige; two granddaughters, Heather Vines Torres and husband, Javier and Melanie (Joyce) Garcia and husband, Jose; along with eleven great grandchildren.
