Clifford Daniel Jacks, 82 , of Terrell, TX, passed away on April 27th, 2017 in Wills Point, TX.
Clifford was born October 26, 1934, at his home in Quinlan, Texas. He was the 4th, of 9 children born to Green Berry and Alice Lorene Carter Jacks, who were sharecroppers. As a toddler, he helped pick cotton with his brothers and sisters. When he was just 5 years old he walked barefoot, with his siblings, 3 miles on a dirt road to attend a one room school in Frogdale for all ages. At 19, he was employed at Monkey Grip Tread Rubber. Clifford started out as a dock hand and worked his way up to truck driver. He drove 22 years, driving coast to coast and clocked in over 2 million miles. He was well known by his CB handle “Funky Monkey”.
August 13, 1955, Clifford married Mittie Jo White. Together they had 4 children and lived in Denton, Terrell and Euless, before retiring to his home in Elmo, Texas. He loved and laughed often, pulling jokes and pranks on fellow truck drivers or unsuspecting family or friends. He loved working as a truck driver, fishing, going out with family, and in his later years repairing lawn mowers and weed eaters at no charge for family and friends. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and sitting in a chair watching traffic from his garage to make sure everyone else was going to work. Clifford also loved keeping abreast of the local and world news.
Clifford was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother’s Kenneth, J.W., Shelton, Delbert Wayne and Billy; and sister Dorothy Carpenter.
